Tequila Sunrise

The Tequila Sunrise is in fact a 1930's cocktail that is both easy to make and to drink which is why it gained much popularity and has managed to retain much of a reputation even today. It is a fruity cocktail that balances the strong tequila with the sweet grenadine and the sharpness of the orange.

Pour both the tequila and orange into a hi-ball glass filled with ice. Stir to mix these ingredients. Carefully, but reasonably quickly pour the grenadine in and allow it to sink to the bottom, creating the famous sunrise effect as it streaks redness through the ice. Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry, alternatively try a slice of lime or orange.

This is best drunk with a straw which will mean that the drink starts sweeter and ends stronger.
